Vilnius‘s shopping malls truly embrace the Christmas spirit, transforming into festive wonderlands each December. Stepping inside, you’re often greeted by a dazzlingly tall and elaborately decorated Christmas tree, its twinkling lights and ornaments creating a magical atmosphere. The malls go all out with their decorations, adorning walkways with shimmering garlands, festive banners, and playful light displays. It’s a treat for the eyes and definitely gets everyone in the mood for the holidays as they browse for gifts and enjoy the cheerful ambiance. The best decorated malls were Panorama and Europa. It is probably the decorated to the same level at Akropolis and Ozas.




As if the mall decorations weren’t enough to get you feeling festive, the heart of Vilnius city center goes all out with its own spectacular Christmas tree. Every year, Cathedral Square is dominated by a huge, creatively designed tree that often earns international acclaim for its beauty and originality. It’s not just a tree; it’s usually a dazzling art installation adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and unique ornaments, drawing locals and visitors alike. The lighting ceremony is a big event, marking the official start of the Christmas season in Vilnius, and the tree becomes a central meeting point and a must-see attraction throughout the holidays. Surrounding it (white little houses in the the photo below), you’ll often find a bustling Christmas market, adding to the magical atmosphere of the city centre during this special time of year. Usually you can buy local produce from various national foods (sausages, sweets, cookies) to delicate jewellery made in Lithuania.





Town hall square had it’s own Christmas tree with iglu spheres to make you feel as if you were an escimo.

If you stroll Stikliu street towards Gedimino avenue, you will be amazed with a level of decorations.




Even Vilnius International Airport has its own beautiful Christmas tree!
