After spending 22 hours in the train, finally I arrived to Guilin. I must admit that the city is gorgeous! The only downside is that it stinks the same as in Shanghai, but it is that heat to blame.
Today it was close to 40°C. I am sweating like a pig – wet everywhere and I mean everywhere. Also that sound of cicadas is really loud and tiring. Sometimes it feels that it is buzzing in your head.
I found the hostel very easily from the train station. One Chinese guy helped me out. The bus driver even didn’t take money, since I had to put coins in the bus, but I had only banknote of 5.
The hostel is so so. Bearable. I went for a short walk around and had a bite. I found the place where to eat on Lonely Planet and it was very highly recommended as only the locals eat there. I didn’t see a single tourist. Must be not everyone dares. I saw some families, construction workers eating in there. It didn’t look like a place to eat from outside and it was quite hard to find, but the Lonely Planet was right it was damn cheap and I paid just only 3 RMB for the portion. There was a pot of some liquid which people were pouring on their noodles, but when I wanted to do the same the owner shake his head indicating that I shouldn’t do it. I did as he told. The noodles were spicy but very delicious!
OK my friends, new roommates just coming in, so going to get acquainted. I will tell you about my hike the hill next time.
