At this time in a month I will be in Shanghai, eating Chinese food and all other goodies. I must buy white fungus and other spices for cooking!
I still need to buy/do:
- Foil for observing Solar Eclipse
- iPod charger from 220V
- To do the second round of the vaccinations
- Buy most important medicines (pain killers in case of teeth ache and etc.)
- China map
To prepare:
- Find South Train Station in Shanghai and other cities and how to get to the stations I need.
- Write down the names of cities in Chinese.
- Write down the names of the stations.
- Write down the numbers from 0 to 10 in Chinese
- Write down the directions how to get to the hostel
- I was told a trick, if you take a taxi make sure you give them the note in Chinese rotated 180 degrees. If driver doesn’t rotate it back it means he can’t read. Get off and find another driver. It is very common that people don’t read in China.
I need to buy US dollars, since they say the best to carry to China is US dollars (just don’t pay anyone in dollars as that is illegal and can be punishable by prison, similar to what it is in Cuba!).
It’s a pity that USD exchange rate has increased as well. I should have bought on 2nd June instead. I would have got it cheaper in around 140Lt (~35£). If only I knew…
