The day 2 started with a breakfast at Courtyard Marriott hotel. The food is continental, but the compared to Italy the food is either very spicy or tasteless. I had some beans, bacon, egg and coffee. However, in the afternoon my stomach was in great pain. Very painful cramps were becoming frequent and more painful. All of that was followed by uncontrolled bowel movement… The fact that I was taking Maloff protect tablets (protection from malaria which is recommended in Delhi) wasn’t helping either.
In my defence, I was very careful, disinfecting my hands, wearing mask and drinking only bottled water and even washing teeth with bottled water, but I suspect that it is impossible to avoid local bacteria. However, there is a term called Delhi Belly. This is a term used to describe an upset stomach caused by eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated water in the Delhi region of India. It is usually characterised by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
Gurugram, formerly known as Gurgaon, is an ancient city located in the northern Indian state of Haryana. It is situated to the southwest of Delhi and is part of the National Capital Region. The city is believed to have been founded by the Pandavas during the Mahabharata period.
The city was ruled by various dynasties over the centuries, including the Tomaras, the Yadavas, and the Mughals. In the 19th century, the British annexed the region, and Gurugram was made the capital of the district of Gurgaon. After independence, the district was merged with the larger state of Haryana in 1966.
In the 2000s, the city transformed into a major technology and industrial hub due to its close proximity to Delhi. It became a major center for IT, automobile, and real estate companies, and many multinational companies have established offices here. Today Gurugram is one of the fastest-growing cities in India and is known as the “Millennium City”. It is home to a large number of shopping malls, luxury hotels, and modern residential complexes.

Interesting fact, that the first line of the Gurugram metro system was opened in March 2019, with a length of 18.2 km and 20 stations. The second line opened in November 2020, with a length of 6.1 km and six stations. The third line is under construction and is expected to be completed by 2022. The entire Gurugram metro system will have a total length of 38.2 km and 32 stations. The system is expected to transport over 500,000 commuters daily once it is fully operational.

Gurugram (previously known as Gurgaon) was the first city in India to be declared a Cyber City in 1998. This was done by the then Chief Minister of Haryana, Dr. Bhajan Lal. At the time, the city was estimated to become the ‘backbone’ of the state’s economy. The impetus for this designation was the presence of many large companies in the city, including Microsoft and IBM, who had set up their offices there. In addition, the city was home to a large number of IT professionals, and it was hoped that the Cyber City designation would attract more companies and professionals to the area.

In India, some lift manufacturers do not include a 13th floor in their elevator systems because of the superstitions surrounding the number 13. Many people consider the number to be unlucky, and so they choose to omit it from their elevator systems. Additionally, some buildings in India will not even have a 13th floor, as they choose to label it as the 14th floor instead.
The next day I’ve spent in bed as fever spiked and couldn’t get up from bed trembling from chills, with cramps in my stomach being better when laying and worse when I was moving.
In late afternoon fever was gone and felt a bit better. Even ordered a local pizza for almost ₹900 from Zomato app, which actually here acquired Uber delivery. However, that ended up in me going to pick up the delivery outside of hotel and falling down on the floor. Lucky me, I’ve had disinfecting wipes, antibiotic cream and a lot of bandaids. No necrotising fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria)! 😀
