If you have ever thought that life sucks and everything at that moment is really bad, think twice as it can just get worse – after a ferry to Haikou they change the bus and I lost my seat. They say things get worse before they get better.
I’ve met a dutch couple in the bus, so at least I had someone to talk to. I had difficulty to write anything while on the bus, since it was shaking so much. We finally have arrived to the shore just a little bit after the midnight (2:30 am). We all had to get off the bus at Hai’angang port. I was just following the crowd, since I had no idea where to go. At some point I felt like those immigrants illegally crossing the border. I really enjoyed the breeze of the sea when boarding the ferry. Couldn’t wait to lay down on the sandy beach!
After waiting 45 min for a ferry we are finally on-board. They could have let us to sleep in the bus instead, while waiting. It is way much more comfortable than to be bent in the bus. I thought the blood flow will stop to my legs soon in that bus. Ha ha ha. My neck feels twisted and also that hot, cold airflow in the back of the bus didn’t do any good. Trains are way much more comfortable and more space.
It should be only 3,5 hours from Haikou to Sanya once we got off from the ferry.
It is amazing that in the waiting hall there was the signs “Service” and “Information”, but nobody speaks a word in English. They just choose to ignore you. Oh yes there was a word somewhere “Complain”, but you can complain as much as you want, no one will understand you. Wel maybe it will make you feel better LOL
I was getting hot in the ferry in the seated area. Good thing that I was surrounded by the group of deaf-mute people so it was very quiet, but they were spitting on the floor the same way as anyone else.
I was rethinking my plans, that I would love to see Dali, Shangri-La and the travellers’ mecca Lijana. The most of all I would like to see the pandas in Chengdu. However, that will have to be for the next time.
After Sanya I should take a ferry to Guangzhou and sleep over there and then to take a train to Huangzhou. Tp see the Total Solar Eclipse, though chances are low – around 15%, then to go to the yellow mountains – Huangshan. After mountains to Shanghai and stay there for a weekend. I really want to get the haircut there and see the famous places. Also to go to Suzhou and sleep there and come back in the morning to Shanghai. If not exhausted after that to take a train to Juanzghou and sleep there. In the morning I would go to Shanghai and sleep the last day in Shanghai. Seems like an intensive week. Would be great to stay in Suzhou a bit longer and relax.
Just great! We have been waiting for one hour until the ferry will start moving. It is really humid and warm on board. So many people around and some of them even smoking!
I have managed to eat some noodles. I have bought the box of noodles on board. Went to put hot water on them (which is free!) and sat down to eat next to the table, which looked like somebody was spitting on it a lot! By the way the toilet was very bear by as well.
The toilets are special. The height of the division is around 120 cm, so when you pee you can see how your neighbour next door is dumping the poo. Some of those toilets even don’t have the doors and the toilet hole is located in the way that you have to stand sideways, not facing the back to the entrance like in most countries. So while you are looking for an empty cubicle you can see sh*t coming out from somebody’s arse and hanging in the air. Furthermore, the hygiene in those toilets is horrible and make sure you have wet wipes or antiseptic liquid to disinfect your hands, unless you want to wash your hands in a big pot of standing water where everybody is washing there hands. I didn’t even consider to put my hands in there!
The ferry reminds me Titanic. Don’t get me wrong, not by the size, but from its age as it would be as old as Titanic. I hope it won’t sink as Titanic did.
Ferry arrived to Hainan island 7:00 am. One could see the strong smog over the Haikou from the water when we were approaching the port. Though the total view was somewhat impressive. I even took a panoramic picture.
Bus left the ferry and everyone got into the bus. I got myself comfortable and suddenly the driver tells us to leave and take all our things. We must change a bus, since we are only 6 people left travelling to Sanya and all other passengers departed at Haikou. Once we arrive to another bus I found out that there is no space. The couple from Nederlands managed to fit together in one bed! Two people in that tiny bed! I had no choice, but just to sit down on the floor.
I was so angry. Then one woman was shouting so loudly, complaining about something for awhile. My anger was just rising with every moment. That damn floor was really uncomfortable and that b**ch is sitting on the bed and complaining? Suddenly I roared in all my voice “Will you shut up!!!”. The silence has followed and I felt asleep for a moment… Didn’t last long though, because one of the passing passengers woke me up! Damn it!
Good thing I have reservation in Peter Hostel. At least I will have a full length bed ! Comforted by that thought I was waiting until the bus will arrive to Sanya.
At some point I stopped feeling my butt and my leg from that green spiky plastic mat on the floor.
I couldn’t wait to get to the beach and stretch my legs!
