I have spent all day on a motorcycle yesterday and travelled to Dragon Bridge to test my bravery. Don’t be alarmed it was just electrical one! However, it was a great fun and an extreme one! If I can drive in China, then I definitely can drive in Vilnius. Here everyone goes whatever way they like, no rules or traffic lights applies. I had constantly to watch out not to run over some human being or not to be hit by a bus.
We went to the dragon bridge. Actually we passed it and were a bit lost, but in the end one local woman showed us where to go. We had to wait for her until her bike will be fixes, which had twice punctured tire and then she took as there. Of course, she wanted something. Her goal was to sell the ride in the bamboo rafts. Since we already came by bamboo rafts, we were not interested.
Dragon Bridge is has a legend, according to which, long ago, a ferocious dragon resided in the nearby Li River. This mighty dragon had the power to control the weather, causing disastrous storms and floods whenever it pleased. The local villagers lived in constant fear, their homes and crops destroyed by the wrath of the dragon.
However, one brave and wise elderly man named Lao Chen had a plan to save the village from its constant torment. He spent years studying ancient scriptures and consulting with wise sages from across the land. Eventually, he discovered a secret ceremony that could summon the mythical Dragon Princess and convince her to tame the dragon.
Lao Chen shared his findings with the village, and preparations began for the ritual. Villagers from afar came to witness the event, bringing offerings of food, incense, and golden trinkets. The entire community gathered by the banks of the Li River, eagerly awaiting the Dragon Princess’s arrival.
Jumping from Dragon Bridge near Yangshuo is considered a bravery test because it requires a significant amount of courage to leap off the bridge and plunge into the water below. The height of the bridge, which stands at around 30 meters, adds to the intensity of the experience. Additionally, the adrenaline rush and fear one experiences during the free fall can easily make this jump intimidating for many. Therefore, only those who are truly brave and willing to face their fears would attempt such a leap.
We had a swim and I have jumped from the bridge! Actually, I have jumped twice and I was so scared both times. Standing on the edge of the bridge I could feel my feet burning from hot stones and inside it felt like butterflies or more like worm eating my gut. I was considering not to jump but everyone were shouting jump and even kids were jumping. So the fear of shame was bigger than the fear itself. So I jumped. Oh and also, both times I’ve landed on my arse. It really hurt! They say that only brave man can jump from it.
Later on, some local woman offered us lunch for 15 RMB, but we bargained down to 5 RMB! It was four of us. So we went into her house and sat comfortably in her front porch. She even sold us beer for 10 RMB. The lunch was just delicious and best service!
After eaten we had to go back. It was really hot weather! My arms got unpleasantly burned, because I forgot my sunscreen in the hostel. Also the city was full of police. Some kind of very important person was passing the town. On every corner there was a policemen. Somehow, I got more scared to drive not to get fine or something.
