First stop was Jay Pritzker Pavillion.
Second was to see Chicago Bean in the Millennium park.
After we took a stroll along Crown fountain where random faces spit out the flow of water. Looks impressive.
Then Route 66 start sign, which is not impressive anymore as some vandals put a lot if stickers on it.
And another sign along the street.
After we took some pictures we went to Wills Tower for a better look to a city from above.
Gazing down from the glass floor felt a but scary. I could bet I have heard the glass cracking.
Good thing we went quite early, so we got into the building without queue and still spent 30 min inside in the que. Anyhow it was worth it. Chicago looks amazing from above. Reminds me Manhattan! And entrance much cheaper (just ) than in Rockefeller building.
When we left the tower we strolled along the channel enjoying architecture and all kinds of buildings. Beautiful!
When we got exhausted we went and sat down in the beer garden.
The newspapers already mentioning the big event – Solar Eclipse.
When we finished with beer we decided to rent the bikes to go down to Adler Planetarium. I must say riding this bike in Chicago was the best thing in the entire day. Very relaxing and amazing cycling path! Also the light breeze was cooling off very well and I could enjoy amazing panorama of high buildings. A lot of people jogging along the path and entire place looks so relaxed.
Adler planetarium has an amazing panorama and though we didn’t go inside we could still enjoy the downtown view from another angle.
Since we had our bikes only for an hour ( per hour), we wanted to return them in time. So we took a nice path through Grant park and then a quick stop at Buckingham fountain. We also quickly passed The Field Museum.
Being all tired from we rushed back to another rental point near Millennium park. I must say cycling on sidewalk, though it is apparently forbidden, is an experience, since they are so wide, you feel like on a cycling highway. Everyone is cycling on sidewalk and even the police didn’t say anything as we passed them and asked for directions.
Once we dropped the bikes we walked through magnificent mile to John Hancock tower to the cocktail bar. I was worried that they might not let us in since we are in shorts and awful trainers. Apparently they don’t care! We had to que for 10min or so and we got up to 96th floor free of charge. cocktails are around each, but tastes great and the view is worth twice as much, especially at night.
The final accent if the day was taking metro. It normally used by poor people and tourists. We tried to book 5 tickets and machine told me it was . I have inserted 20. Then it notified that we have inserted more than we need, we pressed continue. Guess what? It kept all change! No change given as it was written on top of the machine. The weirdest thing was that receipt came out for only! So 5 is mot taxed and doesn’t exist, basically given tax free to somebody.
